Project Team


Who we are


This project is a collaboration between four biologists from different parts of the world, Anna Ten, Valentine Soldatov, Vladimir Dobrev and Robert J. Burnside.

Anna Ten and Valentine Soldatov

Both from Uzbekistan working for bird conservation as biologists in Uzbekistan. They have carried out projects throughout Uzbekistan on a variety of different species including a Central Asian Deserts Initiative fellowship on breeding Vultures and Sakers in Uzbekistan in 2017. They have worked with the Institute of Zoology and UZSPB.

Dr Vladimir Dobrev

From Bulgarian Society for Protection of Birds, Vladimir earned his PhD on the ecology, conservation and reintroduction of Eygptian Vultures in the Balkans as part of the LIFE+ project. Vlad has a wealth of experience in practical conservation of EVs and tagging.

Dr Robert J. Burnside

From the University of East Anglia, UK, John is a conservation scientist who has worked on reintroduction, captive-breeding and release of bustards for more than 10 years. He manages a field research programme on Asian Houbara in Uzbekistan and has tracked migration in this region for many years.
