Happy International Vulture Awareness Day 2025!

  • by

In honour of International Vulture Awareness Day, which falls yearly on the first Saturday in September, and this year was 6 September, we created a video where some of our team talked about the importance of vultures.

This video includes clips from Genriyetta Pulikova and Alyona Kaptyonkina from the BRRC, Jérémie Berlioux and Azamat Khasenov from the Nature Foundation in Kyrgyzstan, Lusine Aghajanyan of the Institute of Zoology in Armenia, and Vladimir Dobrev.

The video has been posted to our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts.

We also took the opportunity to launch the photography competition for our 2026 calendar.

Photographers are invited to submit photographs that showcase vultures native to the Central Asian region.

  • Wild and captive individuals accepted (if there’s a clear conservation message)
  • High-resolution JPG or PNG images only — no heavy watermarks
  • Up to 5 entries per person — but only up to two will be selected per photographer

The deadline for submissions is Monday 29th September, 2025.

Selected images will be featured in the calendar, and winners will receive a free copy. Copies of the calendar will be available to pre-order once the winners have been selected and announced. Watch this space!
